In 2019 following a varied and successful career including as CEO LPFA, a £5 billion pension fund, CEO of LPP a large pension services business running £18 billion assets under management and pension services for 600,000 members, as well as running my own successful management and consultancy business, I decided to focus fully on non executive roles, coaching and mentoring.
I established Coaching with Purpose to support people who want to improve the quality of their thinking, develop their purpose and achieve greater success and happiness.
Do you know the secret to a long and happy life? Or why some people are more successful than others? Is it because of a Mediterranean diet? Regular exercise? Friendship? A specific or a wide range of interests? I think it is about having a passion, a purpose which gives your life meaning and a drive to share the very best of you. It is understanding what makes you tick which allows you to determine your best self.
Leadership, whether its focus is on you, your family or your colleagues, it’s all about understanding your purpose and what you want to achieve whilst appreciating what makes other people tick too.
As a business coach and mentor, I work with people helping them to shape their career goals and fulfil their potential.
In addition, as a life coach I help people who are facing challenges within their lives such as managing stress. Or as they face a stage of life transition, such as considering returning to work, embarking on a new career, seeking to retire.

My Story
I have been coaching and mentoring for over 25 years combined with a long and varied career in both executive and non-executive roles as well as running my own management consulting and coaching business.
It was through a professional network in 2002 that I learnt about the Thinking Environment as a coaching and life approach. This non-directive style, centres on the belief that the individual has the solution and simply needs an opportunity to think clearly. It strongly resonated with what I saw in my working and home life, in that if you give people space, encouragement and opportunity they can achieve wonderful things. Over time I developed my knowledge and skills with Nancy Kline. And in 2005, I qualified as a life coach with Fiona Harrold’s programme at Newcastle College. Also, in 2005 I gained my Masters in Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) with Sue Knight. I am an alumnus of Roffey Park organisational development and consultancy programmes.
As part of my own transition from a full executive career, I revisited my learning with the Thinking Environment and through working with Ruth McCarthy re-qualified as a Coach in 2020. In addition, I also trained in career transition with Clare Risby at LHH.
As a coach I have worked with C-suite and management teams, high potential individuals, aspiring non-executive directors, as well as individuals in career and life transition. I enjoy helping people to develop quality thinking to improve their well-being and fulfil their potential. The more that we can improve the quality of our thinking, deepen our understanding of ourselves and others, the greater benefit to ourselves and society.
My mentoring work is broad and includes a focus on women in the financial services industry as well as men and women in managerial roles in varied sector
